Make a Difference for the Dogs
Most of you know that Eric and I have been involved with Southeastern’s mission for over twenty years.
In February 2021 we returned our fifteenth puppy, Shilo, for her professional training on our Palmetto, FL campus. Jan’s shoulder will be taking a bit of an R & R break…!
When our puppies have the proper skill set to become guide dogs, they go on to change lives in dramatic ways. Mobility, independence, and confidence are but a few of their contributions to their visually impaired and emotionally scarred handlers.
But the gift does not come cheaply. Currently it costs approximately $60,000 to prepare a guide dog from conception to placement. Southeastern receives no government funding, and it gives the dogs to their recipients at no charge.
Our annual Walkathons are the largest means by which we raise the necessary private donations to fund this heartwarming work. This year’s Tampa Walkathon will be held on March 25th at South Tampa's Gadsden Park.
If you feel moved to make a contribution to Southeastern’s cause, we would be most grateful. This website offers an easy and secure way to donate.
Thank you for your support. Your donations make it possible for Southeastern’s trainees to stay healthy and grow into service dogs of the highest caliber. Funds that we raise give us the opportunity to name and raise puppies within our local group.
